Newly minted humans, apparatus
barely used;
I feel vicarious joy
in watching your
youthful limbs
exploring life’s
rich passions!
But I, I know
my engine;
I know its coughs
and turns, its surges of raw energy, bursts
of audacious power.
Mechanics
who have worked
on me
all say the same:
She’s built to last—
she’ll get it done.
