Darkness, darkness descending
Doom impending
gloom as unholy hands grasp
my shivering soul,
drag me down
I scratch at the ground
To keep myself afloat.
But it’s not enough
in your burning eyes.
How could I trust
This hallowed ground
That threatened to swallow me,
and threw me to the street
As darkness leaked
from the very foundation.
You gave me all the scars
that the people can see.
Long, jagged tears
and sharp broken bones.
The dust from the stars
can’t stop me from bleeding.
The scars lay in layers
the stars blink at me, alone.
Forgotten and feeble,
I stare at the sky.
It’s fickle and flickers,
shrouded in furtive darkness.
The hands of dim stars
reach towards me, falling,
falling to Earth rapidly.
They land around me, set me free.
