Perched at an outdoor bar lit with cheap red lights
Fan blowing smoke onto wooden table, glassware, August nights
Bodies all divine, yet not elicit craving
Beauty hovers like lanterns over lake, human painting
Leavening dough reinventing under sun’s rays
Rising with radical acceptance, passing days
Savoring moments in brine, porcelain dish
Bare feet, wrinkled shirt—jewels to cherish
Thin tent trapping heat, perspiration at dusk
The taste of mouth in morning, flavors musk
Flying by with peculiar speed, yet vivid on page
In late summer they bloom—asters, mums, Russian sage
Bow oscillating in smooth legato strokes—violin
The temperament of life unfolds in layers, herein.
